Inspiration for Life

I feel like I have been lacking on inspiration lately. A general feeling that I’m overwhelmed with life and everything that there is for me to do and handle. Don’t get me wrong, things are great, but I just have this feeling that things aren’t working exactly how they are supposed to be working. It’s at these times of confusion that I look for a sense of purpose or challenge. I mentioned this a few weeks ago in looking for my next physical challenge.

I turned on the TV yesterday morning and happened to stumble across a sermon by Joel Osteen. I’m not huge on religion, but I always think he has a positive message for anyone, and communicates it in a short period. All his broadcasts are 30 minutes.

He told a story about a mule that got stuck in the bottom of a well. His farmer tried to pull him up with a rope but could not. Defeated the farmer decided to buried the mule and abandon the well. He started throwing dirt in the well and burying the mule. The mule realizing what was happening, refused to accept his fate. He shook each shovel full of dirt off his back, and began to use the falling debris to step up each time. About a half hour later the mule was able to walk triumphantly out of the well. The dirt that was meant to kill him actually served to save his life.

The whole theme of the sermon was taking the attitude in life of “I’m not buried, I’m planted”. Through each hardship I will rise through in victory.Whether you believe in God, The Universe, or Yourself it’s important to develop this type of faith.

Is there another more important attitude or mindset to hold in life? Is there anyone else who has been struggling lately with this?

Somehow, whenever I come out the other side of one of these periods in my life, it always seems to make sense. I can laugh and have perspective. This time I am carrying this message through this tough time. “I’m not buried, I’m planted. I will take root and rise again even stronger.”

I may start this as a conversation in the forum.

Have a faith filled week.

Marc

I really enjoyed this article. It was uplifting and applies to my life as well. Joel Osteen is one of my favorite spiritual teachers. His message of faith helps during the crossroads of life.

  3. Hi Marc,

I like how you created an “anchor” from watching a sermon. I’m big on spirituality using mantras/affirmations, etc. to support our journey.
    thanks, Marlene
