Wear it Proud

A great thing about participating in charitable events – aside, of course, from helping a terrific cause – is the schwag. I’m talking about the hats, t-shirts and other little items that organizations give you as a thank you for your efforts.

So far this year, I have two terrific hats from the Emerald Nuts Midnight Run (which I did on behalf of UNICEF and the Penguin Plunge for Special Olympics Vermont. I love wearing them around town, almost like a badge of honor, I earned them.

As I’m beaming around town, the items are great conversation starters, as people ask about the events, and ultimately, the cause. So, wear it proud knowing you’ve helped an organization with the event, and you’re helping spread the message everywhere you go.

If hiking Kilimanjaro is on your life’s to-do list, learn about how to make it a reality. I’ll be holding an information session about my next trek up Africa’s highest peak to benefit AIDS orphans. The trip will leave in late December.
