I am moving this Saturday on Halloween. I think it’s good luck really, and I plan to have candy for Trick-or-Treaters, if I get any. I may not have time to carve pumpkins, but you can’t do everything.
The renovation is wrapping up and it’s all coming together. I tripled my original budget, and I am beginning to understand how some of my clients feel. There is definitely an emotional attachment to this project that I don’t have for the projects I manage at work. Everything is as close to perfect as it can be, and I am trying not to drive myself crazy over the smallest details and miniscule imperfections that I am noticing. One thing won’t be done. I ordered a custom stainless steel cable rail that is going to take about 5 weeks to get, and there is a piece of furniture I am not getting until January.
Overall, it feels great. I owe a huge amount to Bob Hendricks who really helped bring a vision to my tastes and preferences. Things are also good at the old place. I have been giving away everything that I can think of: furniture, dinnerware, flatware, the balance of my old clothes, shoes, etc. It has been liberating getting rid of stuff I don’t need, and giving it to people who can benefit from it. Less really is more– I’m looking to simplify my life as I move into the new place.
I will keep you posted and write an article dedicated to the renovation itself when I move in. I will probably post a few before and after pictures, and will post the full albums on Facebook. Say a prayer for me and wish me the best on this venture.
Thanks.
Marc
