Life is But a Dream

Dreams are really interesting stuff. Sometimes they make sense and sometimes they are unintelligible. They are usually both of these things at the same time. I think our minds try to rationalize the massive amounts of information and images we are exposed to daily into an order that is somehow acceptable to our brains-Weird?

The dreams that are real difficult to deal with are the ones that get you emotionally wound up or truly make you feel like they occurred. When I was in second grade I had a dream I was riding a horse on a beach with a lovely, blond haired woman. When I awoke I felt happy as well as heart broken. The interesting part about that was I hadn’t experienced romantic love or even yearned for it at that time in my life. However, I felt it and it was strong.

Why are dreams extremely memorable one night and forgetful the next day? Why do weird words seem to make sense in dreamland but the next day are nothing but laughable. One night I dreamt my best friend Greg was missing and when I finally caught up with him he said,” Did you ever see woke up with out cat and tad?” I woke up laughing, wrote it down, called him and told him, and we still laugh about it to this day.

One night I dreamt about a wonderful theatrical couple decked out in outfits from the 18th century. They were so happy to see me as I was to see them and it seemed like an incredible reunion. Heck, I miss them to this day and truly feel I have known them before (Insert “Twilight Zone” theme music here).

The most real explanation about dreaming that makes the most sense to me was actually given to me by my wife. I was off on a tangent about the possibility that our dreams simply re-introduce to us past life friends and experiences, which is why they seem so real and familiar, and she simply said she thinks our minds to need to defecate at the end of the day not unlike our bodies after a large meal. I know it sounds nasty but think about it.

Is it mental defecation or do we connect with the universal consciousness when we dream? Do we imagine it all or is a past life connection? Maybe it’s just an interesting perk God threw in to keep things interesting? These questions and many others will be answered or not on the next episode of “Your Dreams.”

Below is an interesting video I made on dreaming. Think about it and Sweet Dreams!
